Charity comes from Latin word “caritas” meaning “affection” Philanthropy comes from the Greek meaning “love of man” Voluntary sacrifice by an individual Time, Talent and Treasure An investment in bettering our world

3 out of 4 American families give an average amount of $1,800 or an average 3.5% of their household income Little more than half volunteer Under $20,000 give WHOPPING 4.58% Over $100,000 give 3.09% “Middle Class” gives little over 2% Top 7% ($1 million+) give WHOPPING 50% of ALL charitable donations
